Today I decided to slut it up a bit and make use of some of the beautiful lingerie I’ve got, collecting dust in my inventory. Yes, I know what to expect running around SL like this… Hey, sometimes it’s even welcome. ;)
But there was an interaction that I didn’t expect…
Another av, a female, complimented my shape. I thanked her and then she asked me if I had purchased it or made it myself. I went on to explain to her that it was a shape I had purchased, but modified over and over for years. I don’t even remember where I got it in the first place, and I’m sure it looks nothing like what it did at the time.
And then she asked me if she could have it.
My shape? You’re asking me for a copy of my shape?
It was definitely awkward, because of course my answer was a resounding “No, I’m sorry… but I can’t do that.” To which she politely replied, “Well then fuck you bitch.”
After blocking this fine specimen of what SL has to offer, I TP’d home and thought about it some more. After years of being in SL, I’ve grown quite attached to my shape, most specifically my face. It’s unique, at this point, evolved from what it was and made my own. I modify my shape often, depending on what I’m wearing usually, and limitations some outfits come with… but generally, this shape is my SL “me”. I don’t like the idea of some other av running around as a replica. I wouldn’t be willing to sell it, and I definitely don’t want to give it away.
Fuck you back, bitch: don’t hate me cuz you ain’t me.
Would you have given her a copy of your shape? Am I a selfish bitch…?
I’ve gone ahead and finally Wintered up the place…
It’s getting progressively harder to take good photographs of my land thanks to the neighbor to my left who has a house that takes up her entire parcel. Especially ridiculous considering there’s pretty much nothing in it. I’ve never understood this mentality, in SL or in RL for that matter. Neighborhoods with houses right on top of each other… how miserable it must be to not have any outdoor space of your own. How miserable it must be for your neighbors. *ahem*
Further, another individual two parcels behind me has decided to erect one of those mega-prim landscape backdrops, and lacked the courtesy to make the side others see transparent.
This does not make for easy photography.
Note said neighbors house in this one…
Anyway, I digress. I found this awesome item in the Marketplace a couple of months ago and saved it as a favorite because it sounded so cool I just had to try it out next time I was ready for a change. It’s called LandMap, and it creates a sculpted layer that allows you to change the texture of your land even if you don’t have land powers. I was skeptical as to how well it would work, how well it would copy the terraforming I had taken the time to painstakingly make perfect. It worked exceptionally well. After rezzing the sculpties I did have to raise them all just a smidge, but after that it was 100% covering the ground below. (This is the snow texture I used, though I haven’t had a chance yet to add some footprints, since I didn’t want them covering my entire parcel. Maybe just some by the house…)
I purchased this weather machine, and it works wonderfully. I like it because it has multiple weather options and many features, so I’ll be able to get use out of it year round.
I traded in the apple tree and autumn tree I had previously for some lovely winter trees I found. These are scattered about throughout the landscaping, and I was able to find one with a similar shape to the apple tree to place there. This is the one I put where the massive autumn tree had been. Also similar in it’s grand size, and the lights strewn from the branches complimented the lights strung across the balcony and added some warmth and ambiance.
Oh! I almost forgot: the sculpted snow that I’ve used on the roof and such… full perm purchased in world at Prefabrica, modified heavily and textured with the same one I used to cover the land.
I especially love the snowmen, sadistic little fuckers playing monkey in the middle with one of their heads. There is also a snowball fight area, complete with poses, that I purchased in world at Olive Juice.
See, this is why I never made promises of consistent posting. I haven’t had much time for SL the past few weeks, save for logging in to pay my tier. RL travel and holiday festivities has had me distracted, not to mention a flu from hell. I’m hoping to log in tonight, who knows: a post or two might be on the way.
I hope everyone’s holiday season is wonderful!
Wendy: You can’t stick it on with soap, Peter. It needs sewing. That’s the proper way to do it. Although, come to think of it, I’ve never thought about it before… um… sewing shadows, I mean.
I’ve tried everything. I’ve got my settings on Ultra and I’ve followed various tutorials and different viewers: I have yet to EVER see a shadow that wasn’t a prim.
I am currently using Phoenix Viewer 126.96.36.1993: I have also tried SL Viewer 2 and Kirstins Viewer. Kirstins viewer was impossible. I couldn’t even log in without my entire computer freezing up and requiring a restart (and I’m using a brand new 27” iMac!). Phoenix Viewer has all settings (I think) on that are supposed to be. Viewer 2 (which I really just hate but would use for pictures if I could get the shadows to work) had the shadow option greyed out even though I followed the tutorials to a T.
Someone… anyone… help?
we are all of us unknown
just the thought of you…
